Division of STEM and Social Sciences

Give to SPU

The Division of STEM and Social Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences offers 30 undergraduate majors and 16 minors in nine departments. Students in these programs are challenged to develop  quantitative reasoning skills by professors who are dedicated scholars. Learners are ultimately equipped to foster lasting change in the world through their chosen vocation.

Giving Priorities

BioCORE Scholars Program: This is a leadership program where funds support first-generation and under-represented students in biology, promoting academic success, career discernment, research experience, mentorship and community building.

Jon Parle Engineering Project Endowment: Proceeds from the endowment provide support for engineering senior projects.

Krienke Undergraduate Research Endowment: Proceeds from the endowment are used to provide stipends, materials, and travel support for students in the STEM disciplines conducting undergraduate research with SPU faculty mentors.

Montana Family Endowment: Proceeds from the endowment provide support for students and faculty mentors engaged in undergraduate research. First preference is chemistry and biochemistry, but also open to students in biology.

Whale Skeleton Articulation Project: In August 2020, SPU students will build a 29-foot whale skeleton to hang in Eaton Hall. More about the whale and how she found her way to SPU (including photos and a video) can be found here. Funding is needed to cover the final costs of the project. The names of donors giving over $500 will be included on a placard next to the finished skeleton.
